Jump Lists
New in Windows 7, Jump Lists take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. To open a Jump List, just right-click a program icon on the Windows 7 taskbar. (You’ll also find them on the Start menu.) What you see in a Jump List depends entirely on the program. The Jump List for Internet Explorer 8 shows frequently-viewed websites. Windows Media Player 12 lists commonly-played tunes. Your Jump List missing a favorite? You can “pin” whatever files you like there. Jump Lists don’t just show shortcuts to files. Sometimes they also provide quick access to commands for things like composing new e‑mail messages or playing music.
Improved Windows Taskbar
In Windows 7 you can “pin” favorite programs anywhere on the taskbar for simple access. Not crazy about the icon lineup? Now you can rearrange them any way you like by clicking and dragging. Finally, there are new ways to preview windows. Point to a taskbar icon to see a thumbnail preview of open files or programs. Then, go your mouse over a thumbnail to preview the window full-screen. You can even close windows from the thumbnail previews–a huge time saver.
Snap
Ever need to cut through a cluttered desktop and quickly focus on a single window? Just click a pane and give your mouse a shake. Every open window except that one instantly disappears. Jiggle again–and your windows are back.

Energy Efficient Intel Pentium Processor
![]() |
Offering the latest in ultra-low voltage processing power, the dual-core Intel Pentium SU4100 has a has a power consumption rating of just 10 watts and a 1.3 GHz speed that’s paired with a quick 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 2 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a quicker front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
Designed for use in ultra-thin laptops to balance the competing needs of high performance with battery consumption, the Pentium SU4100 features Intel SpeedStep technology, helping your system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease power consumption and heat production. It also comes with built-in Do Disable Bit technology, which helps keep your laptop safe from viruses, worms, and other malicious attacks.

Simple Backup for Peace of Mind
The Timeline family of notebooks also includes a backup button that lets you easily select and protect your irreplaceable digital files through regular scheduled backups or on an as-needed basis. Extended Battery Life via Low Power Components and Acer’s PowerSmart Features
![]() |
While most notebooks with long battery life use higher cell batteries which protrude from the back of the notebook, Acer combined numerous low power components with a standard high-capacity 6-cell battery, allowing them to keep the design as small as possible.
In addition, a conveniently located PowerSmart button located above the keyboard allows you to easily extend battery life. A simple press of the button activates the advanced power savings settings, traditionally a tedious procedure accessed through numerous software-based steps. This one-button approach simplifies the process.
Lastly, an Acer PowerSmart adapter senses when the notebook is unplugged, and stops sending needless energy. It also stops pulling power from the wall outlet when the adapter is full. The PowerSmart adapter saves 1752 watts of energy a year–equivalent to lighting a 15-watt (65W equivalent) light bulb for 116 days.

The 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU4100 Processor does not support virtualization, so if you upgrade to Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, you will not be able to run Windows XP Mode (or other OS). Buy the ASUS UL30A-X5 instead which does fully support Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate.

Small things that break down really speaks for poor quality at Acer. I would reckon that they would have worked out their kinks and improve their image from that of poor quality, but they haven’t.
After 4 months, my AC adapter went dead, 0 V registered from a multimeter. Now I am without a functioning notebook. Tried to deal with tech support, they say I have to reboot by pressing on power button for more than 30 sec, then plug in the power supply. Duh! There is no power to start with, what is there to reboot. I will just have to buy a replacement AC adapter while waiting if Acer would replace my dead one. So frustrating.

I’ve had this computer for about a week and over the past four years I’ve had 10 other laptops and a couple of desktops. I bought this computer after using two different netbooks. I am still in school and as a result I use my laptops for a lot of word processing. But I’m also a huge time multi-tasker as well. I will often have a web browser open, MS word 2007 open, Yahoo! Messenger, and itunes open at the same time.
This lovely computer switches between all of those tasks as seemlessly as my HP Pavilion DV4-1220us and my custom built desktop. It also handles video surprisingly well. I noticed that one user had complained about HD youtube videos being choppy before I bought the computer. And while that is right, I ran another test. The other night I watched an HD episode of Grey’s Anatomy on this computer in itunes and I had no problem. I was shocked. I fully expected to have to turn it off. But I watched the entire thing and it was fantastic. You Tube streams videos and depending on the speed of your connection, the video can freeze or be choppy in SD or HD.
The only minus would be the speakers. The sound quality isn’t fantastic if you’re watching videos. But, headphones solve that. But for everything else it’s fine. The only computer I have fantastic sound on is my desktop.
I expected this computer to act like a larger, slightly quicker netbook and what I finished up getting was a lighter notebook at a fantastic price. If you are a heavy computer user like me, I wouldn’t use this as my sole computer simply because I don’t want to overtax it with programs. So it’s a fantastic second computer or a fantastic buy for a light computer user. If you really need a CD/DVD drive just buy one seperately to have just in case.
In small, this computer is one of the best I ever had. I won’t be getting rid of it any time soon. So if you’re on the fence about buying it, don’t be. Because it is truly the best technological innovation in a long time.

I’ve researched for about a month whether to buy this Acer 3810TZ or Asus UL30A.
I nearly was about to buy UL30A because it has better ram, CPU and Hard drive than Acer 3810T.
But, the reason why I switched to Acer is that UL30A has serious problem with wireless connection.
My primary reason for buying laptop is for the school. I need to bring laptop to class and do research and stuff.
UL30A seems to have problem with wireless dropping signal.
Even though some of the owners claimed that they don’t have any issues, it changed my mind to go with Acer 3810T and I reckon I made a right choice.
This machine works perfectly right out of the box.
It does not look like $600 laptop. looks very sexy!
Here is Windows Experience Index for this machine.
Processor : 4.0
Memory(RAM): 4.7
Graphics : 3.2
Gaming Graphics: 3.2
Primary hard disk: 5.6
Graphics is supposed to be this because Intel graphic cards are not for gaming.
I ran one of the 720p movie and it runs without any lag. fantastic!
One of the thing is 5-1 card reader supports SDHC memory card.
I saw somewhere that people were asking whether SDHC works on this machine or not.
IT WORKS!!
I only had it for few hours but I already know that this will be the best buy of the year!
Despite the fact it is excellent machine, there is few cons.
1) Keyboard tracks fingerprints easily. (You cannot touch my laptop while you eating something with your hands!!)
2) As other review mentioned, yes it is hard to press mouse button on this laptop. (I have external mouse so it really doesn’t matter)
3) Also sound volume certainly too low, but it doesn’t matter to me since I don’t plot on see movies that much with this.
I runs really silent, cool and very light.
Those of who want something like this, I highly recommend this product!
