Bought this machine to replace my 4.5 year-ancient HP laptop. Huge disappointment! First, it is overpriced. Second, the show tends to be on the dark side. The battery life is a joke–3 hours, max, and that’s without watching videos, ripping/burning, gaming, music, etc. I am not impressed with the speed, either. My 4.5 year-ancient HP is just as quick, and gets MUCH better battery life. In addition, the CD/DVD drive is very flimsy and made of thin plastic. Looks and feels as if it will break easily. When I burn a DVD, the drive makes a “chug-chug-chug” sound, like a train. Ripping music from a CD is slow, too, and again, is quicker on my ancient HP. As another reviewer mentioned, the AC plug is located on the right side of the computer, which is inconvenient; I prefer it on the left, as do a lot of people, apparently. The headphone and microphone jacks are located on the front of the machine, instead of the side. Inconvenient, as well. Windows 7, which comes pre-loaded, is a dreadful OS, IMO, but that’s not HP’s fault. Can’t wait to get my ancient HP fixed–yes, I will invest the money!–and start using it again. I like HP machines and expected to like this computer, but I’m sorry I bought it. It’s not worth the money.

Nice laptop. Performs exceptionally well. Pleanty of horsepower. But, typical HP came loaded with a ton of bloatware.

After 2 days of using it and while playing a game, the laptop stopped working, had power but it would not turn on, after calling HP I have to send it in for servicing already…. just 2 days!!

Runs like a graped ape. Not real sure of the SD slot. Got my files to download but module didn’t seem to seat too well. AC plug protudes from the right side, contrary to my living arrangement. Why dont they come up with a flush a/c plug. I’ve had to replace 2 for my Dell. Like the show. My pix look real excellent. Sound is ok, but it’s never loud enough for me, anyway.

Bought mine a couple of years ago (for close to $[...]!!), and last month it stopped working. I called the HP folks and they said i had just missed the 2 year warranty and would charge me ONLY $[...] to fix it! It apparently was motherboard issue that had been posted on the internet, but HP failed to inform the owners about this FATAL issue, until it was too late. Instead of recalling all of their defective 17″ laptops, they just waited to see how many folks would really learn this horror for themselves.

Bottom Line: HP products are the worst, and their support dept is even more twisted. Just to save money and offer to fix it for free (since they knew long ago that the motherboard was defective), they questioned me to pay $[...] bucks!! can you believe this. I’ll post these comments on other internet boards to let public aware of the HP tricks. HP now stands for Hell to Pay! They lost another customer and hopefully hundreds of others as well. Excellent Luck, and I mean it!
